    Description

SANTIAGO DE CUBA - Central Park & Hotel, Casa Granda - 1937 - ARCHITECTURE: Santiago de Cuba is the second largest city of Cuba and capital city of Santiago de Cuba Province in the south-eastern area of the island, some 870 km (540 mi) south-east of the Cuban capital of Havana. The municipality extends over 1,023.8 square kilometers (395.3 sq. mi), and contains the communities of Antonio Maceo, Bravo, Castillo Dunay, Daiquirí, El Caney, El Cobre, El Cristo, Guilera, Leyte Vidal, Moncada and Siboney. The colonial hotel Casa Granda - Santiago de Cuba’s flagship property - is located right in the heart of Cuba’s most Caribbean city, overlooking emblematic Parque Céspedes. The stately four-floor building dates from 1914. It’s a prime example of eclectic architecture, but the façade maintains a certain sobriety, enriched with elegant ornamental details. This White Border Era (1915-30) postcard is in good condition. Curt Teich & Co., Chicago. No. 110650. No. 30.
